If so, I’d be very interested in a high resolution scan of the page on Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.

I’m currently working on a project to reverse engineer how the Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake team built their reference model for METAL GEAR D, and I’m looking to get my hands on as many reference photos as possible. The Metal Gear 2 advertisement in this KONAMI NEW GAMES flyer contains a unique marketing photo of the model which hasn’t appeared anywhere else.

I'm probably not in the right place to ask my question, but I'm trying :-)

I once had a CX5M, which broke down.
I found old cassettes for the YRM501, and I use BlueMSX while waiting to buy a CX5M if I find one not too expensive.
I did not understand how to insert cassettes in this emulator and if someone has already used it, I would accept help.

Hi Sandy, Thanks for adding all Delta Soft programs. I have one remark,
when I look at ALL SOFTWARE and the sound is fm-pac, msx-audio, or SCC it is shown. But when moonsound is used there is no indication. Is there a way to indicate whether a program used the moonsound ?

Hi generation msx,

I don't know if I'm the only one experiencing trouble, but the search button doesn't work on my pc (win 7 64 bits explorer 10).
When I try to search metal gear, ranma, rambo or whatever, it will show the game in the list but when I click the program if tells me nothing found and doesn't show the game ??
When I click metal gear in the popular list down below it show metal gear, so I know it's there :)
Is this a known problem due to the new interface ?

2010 was a very difficult year for the blueMSX team, this for personal reasons.
We have however made some additions and improvements, but all is not ready for an official release. As these additions and improvements can interest some people, we have decided to release a beta version for Christmas ! :)

Remember : itâ€™s a beta version, only the core of the emulator is updated and some bugs could appear.

Important : if you get audio problems with this beta, please deselect the option "Enable reverse playback" in the Options/General menu before booting a machine

A new version of this cool front-end for blueMSX (and also openMSX) is available !

Hereâ€™s the list of the new features :
- set the screenshots for profiles using a supplied directory containing screenshots for more than 1100 games and programs
- modified the â€œFill Databaseâ€ and â€œDrag and Dropâ€ features to sync a launcher database to hard disk by skipping items that exist in the database already
- show total number of known dumps for ROMs and list the ones found in the launcher (accessible through the right-click menu)
- added more ROMs and a few disks to the included extra-data.dat file
- fixed a bug where the launcher was sometimes crashing after using the â€œImport Extra Profile Dataâ€ feature
- fixed a bug where an error window saying â€œinitialize cacheâ€ was poping up after changing blueMSX path in the settings

- added support for setting company, year and country data for games that don't have entries in blueMSX database (such as disks)

- added favorites support
- improved performance of filtering and search-by-SHA1 by introducing caching
- allowed the filters to be set in the main window by providing a dropdown list on the filter box

Hey folks,

I am hoping that someone might be able to help me out in finding an old msx game for a friend of mine. The game she's looking for, as she remembers it, was about a guy, with a sword who is trying to defend a crown. While playing, you can pile up corpses to stop the enemies from getting to you. The only other things that she can remember is that the board was shaped like this <=> (i'm thinking hex squares). It looks "similar to Master of Monsters for the msx, but crappier" (her description :p). She also said that the background was black, and the red lines form the hexagon field.

The bad guys come from the top and work their way down to the bottom. They only came in single colors, and the player had two colors (as far as she remembers, at least.) The only bad guys she remembers are skeletons (and possibly mummies), and when they died, they take up a hex space. While fighting, you see a sort of flashing whirlwind animation.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Since 1998, Hans Otten maintained a very interesting website for all the MSX fans, especially the coders and the hardware experts, as it includes many technical guides and programming sources.

Since almost a month, this website was no more available as Hans has deleted it for some personal reasons. It was a shock for the MSX community, that’s the reason why I’ve decided to create a mirror on the MSX blue domain.

The 2010 edition of the great MSXdev’ contest has been launched ! A brand new website has been created under WordPress, what means new interactive features to get still more interest for this contest !

This time, the deadline has been fixed to 31 January 2011 : the coders have therefore more than 10 months to develop superb new games for the best 8-bit system !

Discover all the rules on the official website ! They are very similar to the 2009 rules, with exception for the way the jury is composed (a new system inspired by the Passion MSX2 Contest) and a rule concerning the release of a game on cartridge before the end of the contest.
