Screenshot problems

Wataru Aug 02, 2006 at 20:49

Sometimes when I take a screenshot from a certain game not all of the elements appear in the screenshot. For an example of this take a look at the screenshot I took from Clapton 2. I wanted to make screenshot with the end-boss in it but as it can be seen the end-boss does not appear in the screenshots, its bullets are however pictured. Does anybody of you know why this sometimes happens and if it can be fixed? Thanks in advance

Sounds like a bug in your emulator. Try another one to be sure.

it is very easy ,you just need to install some kind of professional screen capture software like aca capture pro. ACA capture PRO is a multi-function software...Not only capturing the video, it can capture almost all kinds of files such as swf, all static images, flash on the website, window's menu item...Moreover, ACA capture PRo support selected-area capture function, it is mean that you have a more easyuse screen capture resolution.....

@DanielSmith, Thanks I will have a look at the program you mentioned.

If the emulator is correct (i.e. bug free) this program should not be necessary, really. I've never had problems in e.g. openMSX. Please mention this problem to the author of blueMSX, so he can fix it!

By the way, I checked Clapton II: the problem is that the game has flickering sprites. If you make a screenshot at the wrong time, the sprites could just be off and thus missing. Best way to make screenshot: pause the emulator to see if it's going to be OK, and then make the shot. Then you know what you'll get.

Thanks for the tips, Manuel

I have some troubles uploading the screenshots. My way of making them: ALT+PrtSC on active Ru-MSX window, CTRL+V to paint, crop of the frame of Ru-MSX, save to .bmp, convert to .png Is there a fixed number of pixels for the screenshots? Is that a reason for not accepting my screenshots?

Manuel Feb 04, 2007 at 13:27

msxbas, that sounds like a very complicated way of doing things. It's much easier to use an emulator that supports screenshots directly, like openMSX or blueMSX. Also, there is less chance that there are emulation errors and cropping errors.

msxbas Feb 04, 2007 at 13:50

I always use alt+printscreen and paint: it has become a habbit. It is low-end and works with all programs I'll see if open-msx or blue-msx work on my old PII-333mhz win2k laptop

msxbas Feb 05, 2007 at 22:21

Ok then, tried openMSX, but the default .png files it generates are giving me errors too. I somehow cannot upload screenshots... Any clues?

Manuel Feb 05, 2007 at 22:27

Those png files should be OK, so something else is probably going wrong. No idea what, though... Maybe Sylvester can comment.

What exactly goes wrong when you upload them ? Do you get a warning ?

msxbas Feb 11, 2007 at 12:18

no warning, unclear error.... (see pic)

Thanks, but the Adventure Quest one is already on the site. When I have some time I'll try to remember to add the other one.

Hi everybody, It seems that msxbas is not the only one having problems in uploading screenshots, I am trying to upload the title screen of Who Dares Wins II but get the following message: It seems something went wrong when processing your upload. Error: Uploading failed !! And I haven'tn changed my uploading method. OFF TOPIC: the link to Aackosoft software doesn't seem to work either, only a blank screen appears. Regards, Wataru

I will have a look at it tonight.

sylvester Mar 05, 2007 at 18:57

Ok, fixed the screenshot upload problem and also the blank screen with Aackosoft.

sylvester Mar 05, 2007 at 19:00

btw, I also uploaded the ace of aces title screenshot to test it :)

Manuel Mar 05, 2007 at 19:17

Due to several other bugs (now fixed) things went wrong with WHo Dares Wins II, but they have been fixed now. So, no need to do something for that game, Wataru.

Thanks Manuel. Now I can have a goodnight sleep again. All the best! Wataru
