The story takes place in the turbulent final years of the Later Han dynasty.
As the authority of the imperial court fades, powerful warlords raise their banners
across the land and struggle for control of the realm.
Dong Zhuo places Emperor Xian on the throne and seizes power.
In response, Yuan Shao, Cao Cao, Sun Jian, and other lords rise against him.
Before long, the balance of power begins to shift toward Cao Cao.
Leading a great army, Cao Cao crosses the Yangtze and advances toward Red Cliffs.
There, the famous Battle of Red Cliffs is about to begin.
