Astron Belt not loading properly

I've been working my way through the MSX Laserdisc library and keep having problems getting Astron Belt to load. I've bought two copies of the game now and had the exact same problem with each...

Once the initial load is done it allows me to start the game but simultaneously attempts to load the game again. So you're able to control the ship and shoot, but no background video plays and you have loading graphics and noises over the top. So it's completely unplayable.

The fact is happens on both discs suggests this is either a problem with every disc (unlikely) or an incompatibility with my player/set-up.

Anyone else got any experience with this game, good or bad?
