Founded by Toshiba as "Toshiba Musical Industries", was renamed in 1973 to "Toshiba EMI" (東芝EMI) after Capitol EMI injected cash and acquired a 50% stake.
Since 2007 it is called "EMI Music Japan" after EMI bought out Toshiba.
