Various regional models and revisions of the VG-8235 were produced:

- VG-8235/00 first model with MSX-BASIC 2.0, keyboard layout is QWERTY
- VG-8235/02 for the German market with MSX-BASIC 2.0, keyboard layout is QWERTZ
- VG-8235/16 for the Spanish market with MSX-BASIC 2.0, keyboard layout is QWERTY with ñ key
- VG-8235/19 for the French market with MSX-BASIC 2.0, keyboard layout is AZERTY
- VG-8235/20 revised model with MSX-BASIC 2.1, keyboard layout is QWERTY
- VG-8235/22 and /29 revised models for the German market with MSX-BASIC 2.1, keyboard layout is QWERTZ
- VG-8235/36 revised model for the Spanish market with MSX-BASIC 2.1, keyboard layout is QWERTY with ñ key
- VG-8235/39 revised model for the French market with MSX-BASIC 2.1, keyboard layout is AZERTY

The system confusingly states 256K RAM, but this is actually made up of 128K RAM + 128K VRAM.
